Lightning Rod Roller Coaster POV

Yo, roller coaster fans! If you're ready for a wild ride that'll leave you gasping for air and pumped with excitement, you gotta check out Lightning Rod® at Dollywood's Jukebox Junction. This baby is themed after a sweet 1950s hot rod and it's got a track like no other. The Topper Track and Ibox steel track come together to create a totally unique ride experience that you won't find anywhere else.

Get ready to launch!

When you get on Lightning Rod®, get ready to feel the rush. You'll blast from zero to 45 mph in no time, shooting up 20 stories high for a massive airtime moment. And that's just the beginning! You'll fly over twin airtime hills and then plunge down the first drop, which is a daring 165 feet. With speeds of up to 73 mph and almost 20 seconds of airtime, this ride is pure adrenaline.

One of the reasons Lightning Rod® is always ranked as one of the top-10 roller coasters in the US is because of its killer track structure. The wooden frame supports both the steel Ibox track and the wood stack Topper Track, making for a ride that's smooth and wild at the same time. Each train can hold up to 24 people, with 12 cars carrying two passengers each.

Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) is the design and construction firm that made Lightning Rod® a reality. These guys are experts at making awesome roller coasters that thrill and delight riders of all ages. The company was founded in 2001 by Fred Grubb and Suanne Dedmon, and they're known for their innovative designs and cutting-edge technology. The Chief Engineer, Alan Schilke, is the mastermind behind some of the most insane and exciting coasters in the world.

RMC is famous for their Raptor track, which made its debut in 2011 with the opening of Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City in Missouri. This track design allows for tighter turns and more intense inversions, making for an incredible ride. RMC is also credited with revitalizing the wooden coaster industry by using hybrid construction techniques. Recently, RMC has been breaking records with coasters like Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point, which has an insane 27.2 seconds of airtime, and the Jersey Devil at Six Flags Great Adventure, which has a 130-foot drop and hits speeds of up to 58 mph.

It's no surprise that RMC has won tons of awards for their incredible work. In 2018, they were named Manufacturer of the Year by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.

If you want a ride that'll blow your mind, you gotta check out Lightning Rod® at Dollywood!
